Despite his recent loss in depth perception and balance, Reuben has finally gotten the hang of puzzles. It's really fun to see him figure out how to fit the pieces in the right spot and it's nice to know he's still got some visual-spacial processing going on.
Here's Reuben lovingly attending to his ball. Reuben's fever was blazing Thursday evening. Even with antibiotics, tylenol and Motrin it shot above 102. We were doing everything we could to cool him down but it persisted and Reuben became eerily lethargic. I thought we were going to have to take him to the hospital. To check if Reuben was still responsive Mom had Amy show Reuben a ball. He looked up weakly, gathered his strength and declared "ball." That gave us all hope that he'd be okay and we were able to get enough fluids into him that the fever cooled.
The pictures below are before getting sick. Here's Reuben and Eliza practicing their Irish River Dance number for St Patrick's day. Not really. But they both do love getting into their Grandpa's truck bed where all their stomping is gratifyingly amplified by the plastic liner.

Hope he feels better soon, poor kid.
Hope Reuben and you are recuperating! I find it very funny that the ball was what got a reaction even with him so sick. I'll have to remember that technique for checking for interactivity.
