The Very Hungry Reuben

We bought a carton of large eggs YESTERDAY. Tonight they are gone. All gone. I ate two eggs. Aaron hasn't been home so he didn't have any and try as she might Miriam is still stuck on a milk only diet. That leaves Reuben.

At dinner I watched him devour four eggs in under a minute then beg for more. I scrambled another and thirty seconds after I'd scooped it out of the pan it had followed the others into the bottomless pit that is Reuben. He ate five eggs right in front of me along with four stalks of broccoli, a full cup 8 oz of yogurt, a full cup of milk, a rice cake with peanut butter and a slice of nine grain wheat bread. And that was just dinner.

I feel like I am raising the very hungry caterpillar. Or Gaston. I'm not sure which is worse. I'm really hoping Reuben is working on growing Up and not just out.

He's also figured out how to peel his own clementines so now there's no stopping his depletion of our fruit. I'm finding piles of clementine peels all over the house.

THANK YOU!
I was needing something to rejive my brain after working on a research design about Putin... and this was what I needed! I feel alive again- and I hope that Reuben gets into his cocoon soon...

Woah! That kid can really eat! Before I saw you mention Gaston, that's totally what I was thinking.

haha, that's sooo funny! B/c Mom mentioned this post at dinner last night and then I started singing the Gaston song! Maybe he'll end like Gaston, an awesome singer :P but without the tragically flawful pride...

Eliza was inspired by Reuben's peeling prowess and has learned to peel clementines, too.She said: "tell Aunt Katy!"
