One Step Forward Two Steps Back

I mentioned earlier that Miri has started eating solid food. Hurray! Out of jealousy or interest or a poor sense of taste, Reuben has decided he only wants to eat rice cereal or as he puts it "baby cereal."

Me: Reuben what do you want for breakfast? Crepes? Waffles? Eggs?
Reuben: Baby Cereal! Baby Cereal!

Me: Reuben what do you want for lunch? Sandwich? Yogurt?
Reuben: Baby Cereal!!

Me: Reuben what do you want for dinner? Pizza? Noodles? Eggs? Cheese? Broccoli? (He really likes broccoli)
Reuben: No. Baby Cereal?
Me: Cake? Cupcakes? Cookies?
Reuben: Baaybeee Cereal!!

You get the idea.

Thursdays are my OUT days. Out as in I can not take being at home anymore and we are going OUT, it doesn't matter where. Today we took a walk in the snow at the botanical garden. Three different people (the only other three people there, two being gardeners who have to be there because it is their job) passed us and said something like Cold day today. Wow, you're brave to be out here with those two. Which I know is the nice way of saying: You're a crazy lady to drag your kids out in this weather.
And they're totally right. I am crazy on Thursdays. And it was bitter cold. But Reuben had fun stomping around in the snow and following the bunny and deer tracks around. Then we warmed up in the car. Here's proof that nobody was too frozen after our arctic expedition.

Then stumbled upon the wonderful Brookside Nature Center. There were live turtles and snakes and fun nature books and lots of buttons to push and taxidermied animals and a great big window to watch birds at the bird feeders and a glass bee hive. It was heavenly. Seriously, that is what my heaven looks like. I love Montgomery county. And Reuben loves foxes, dead and alive.

At first glance, Reuben's rice cereal looked like ice cream.
As for outside adventures in the cold weather, sounds like your kids are learning not to let the weather get in the way of what they want to do.

I think I remember taking you to that nature center when we lived there. Looks like a perfect winter weather retreat!
