As has been alluded to before, Aaron is quite fond of his last name, Cummings. He wants me to have it, he wants our children to have it, he wants our possessions to be labeled with it, and so on and so forth. BUT when I referred to our cat as Mr. Battle Cat Cummings, Aaron became deeply annoyed. He said that the cat did not deserve his name. I asked Aaron if Battle could have the name if he was a better cat (he tends to destroy futniture and occasionally attacks our guests), but Aaron said his animal nature disqualified him from the name of Cummings. Aaron also believes that when Battle dies he can NOT live with us in heaven (or wherever else we go) because he's not really a part of our family. Poor unloved Battle.

Perhaps you should have referred to him as Mr. Battle Cat Meldau-Cummings.
I didn't realize that Aaron disliked Battle so much.
I like Battle just fine. But he is not human.
My understanding is that animals fill the "measure of their creation" and will also enjoy an enjoyable afterlife.
I think it's fine if a pet has a name. I think it's weird if the pet has the same last name. Besides, what happens to it's name if the owner gets married?
I know Aaron likes Battle(he wouldn't have called him that if he didn't), and I do too. It just seems weird if the pet has the same last name as a person. -Abby;)
I hope I don't have to hang out with any of the pets I grew up with in heaven.
