Ever since I got kidney stones (which are PURE AGONY) Aaron and I have kept a pretty well supplied stash of cranberry juice around the house. I like cranberries but I'm not a huge juice fan. It's always a little too sticky sweet for my taste.
Lo and behold, Aaron and I discovered pure, unsweetened cranberry juice at the store. I was really excited. I expected it to be tart but it's strong enough to make your hair curl. It tastes a little bit like cranberries and a whole lot like turpentine. I keep trying to water down with other beverages but that's had some disastrous results.
Turns out that if you add a drop or two to a cup of milk, the milk curdles. But it doesn't taste that bad, kind of like old yogurt. (My curiosity got the best of my so I had to try it.)
So if anyone wants a good third grade science experiment, I suggest cranberry juice. It's a great demonstration of what happens when you add an acid to a base. I'm sure it can also be employed as a pretty funny church object lesson, any ideas?

I love pure cranberry juice- diluted with ginger ale! Good stuff.
Side note: It can be used to cure a urinary tract infection if you drink it straight, and I recommend drinking it with a straw so it bypasses most of the taste buds.
I sometimes drink pure cranberry juice. A lot of the labels are deceiving. We get it at HT.
How about sugar-free cranberry jam instead? It would definitely have more concentration of the good stuff than juice.
3 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries (1 - 12 oz. package)
1 1/2 cups water
1 package(1.75 oz)Sure Jell (special fruit pectin for no sugar recipes)
3/4 cup Splenda for baking
Mix water, pectin and Splenda with wire whip. Crush 1 cup cranberries. Add all berries to liquid mixture and continue to stir while heating to a boil to make sure the pectin dissolves. When mixture boils, reduce heat and let simmer 7 minutes. Refrigerate.
Maybe how your white and fresh like the milk, but when you have pure evil touch you, even you can curdle... I don't know.
and you tasted turpentine...when? Was it the classic, mixed up your paint cleaner container for your glass of water accident?
