Diamonds in the Rough

At my work while looking through the vast storage banks of long forgotten and under appreciated images, I come upon some real diamonds in the rough. Here are some I have recently enjoyed.

"Traveller Attacked by Dragon in the Swiss Alps" - Steve says the dragon looks remarkably similar to Battle

"Beaver Hunting"

"John Smith Taking a Prisoner" - Looks like it's not going so well for John

Donkey by Samuel Palmer

aww, poor beavers. I knew battle was part something else besides just a cat. now we know- he's half dragon, half cat.

I think I might be able to find a use for that "Beaver Hunting" picture in my classroom; we are discussing Utah History for Social Studies (4th Grade), and there's a whole unit about how the white man discovered Beaver Pelts.

I think it's funny that the artist drew the European (or John Smith) looking weaker and smaller than the Indian. Usually it seems like it's the opposite, even if this picture is more accurate.
