The talent that is Bear Grylls

I was just excited to learn that I can get the whole season of Man vs Wild on Netflix!! Now if I could only get my mail back! (Aaron stole the netflix movies by requesting a forward/hold on the mail which has made me very very angry. He's currently doing penance and will continue to do penance until my mail is restored.)
Anyway, I really love watching Man vs. Wild. If you haven't seen the show, it's hilarious. I think it's designed to kill anyone willing to follow its "survival" advice. Bear Grylls, the host, gives advice like, when lost in the Sahara you can suck water from a dead camel's rancid stomach. What a Great idea!
The show has other perks. Bear Grylls tends to wander through remarkably beautiful places which makes for good viewing. But his REAL skill is his uncanny ability to find some excuse to take off his shirt. I think he does it at least once every episode, even the episode in the Arctic Circle. He's that good.

We're big Man vs Wild fans, too!

The sahara camel-guts episode was a bit too much for me, though. In fact, all the season 2 shows seemed to be trying too hard to gross out the audience.

But it won't keep me from watching!

Remember, when pregnant, you're allowed a lot more leeway on things you can do to torture your husband for making grievous errors.

I am sooooo in love with Bear Grylls. Eric teases me about it mercilessly.

We too have been big Bear fans. I thoroughly enjoyed Dave's post in the past about the random items that make up his diet.

However, I have recently been a bit disillusioned by this youtube video:

(or just type in "bear grylls phony" - only if you too feel like being disillusioned).

I suppose it takes nothing away from his amazing ability to stomach rotting sheep intestines, but the whole survival edge was so engaging! Drat.

I thought he actually managed to get buck naked in the arctic circle one, after he intentionally jumped through a thin sheet of ice and hung out in the below-freezing water for a spell.

I think he has gotten naked more than once, not that I am counting...
