Extras

Aaron and I spent some time today packing bags for the hospital. After reminiscing about Reuben's birth, we concluded we didn't need a whole lot. All we did after he was born was sleep eat and take pictures. So we have some clothes, some snacks, a few toiletries, and the camera ready to go. When we finished packing we looked at each other and said that seemed too easy. Are we forgetting something? But neither of us could come up with anything else.

My very favorite "extra" from last time was a bag of clementines. They made the whole room smell absolutely wonderful along with being delicious. Clementines aren't in season now so I'm trying to think of a substitute fruit.

Anybody have recommendations on what else to bring?

My longest labor has been 5 hours, so I have not encountered the same problems you have. However, the one thing I always bring is a sock with 2 tennis balls in it. Dave rubs them up and down my lower spine during contractions - it really helps. I would suggest bringing some grapefruit and zesting them slightly to release the aroma.

I was thinking it would be so funny to bust out a watermelon but it looks like you already have that as a suggestion. I love plums and nectarines and peaches in summertime. They smell pretty good, too. :)

I bought clementines yesterday at Costco. They were imported from South America per the label. To heck with what's in season. I'll eat an extra one for you. :)

How about a really good cut-up pineapple?

Landon brought me yogurt and granola, it was awesome. We also kept a gorgeous freshly cut Peony in our room, the view out our window was a brick wall, so it was nice to bring some of the outside in. And funny that it's been mentioned twice, but I also had a lot of watermelon.
