The amount of oil spewing into the Gulf Coast I find almost incomprehensible: 30,000 t0 60,000 barrels (each barrel is about 42 gallons) a day. The spill is so large it is easily visible from space. The bright white spot is the oil slick reflecting the sunlight. NASA has been taking images since the explosion. You can see a slide show of more images on the NASA website here.

I totally think that BP should offer a 1 Billion dollar reward for anyone who can stop it. The interested parties have to front all the money for their attempts but if they are successful, they get some cash. I apparently don't know enough to understand why this is so impossible with all the brillant minds and technology in this world. Probably not a good choice, but I try not to think about it much it is just so awful.
