C-ville Time

I really love living in Charlottesville. But Charlottesville can be pricey, especially when it comes to food, particularly produce. That's why I've fallen for C-ville Market. You can get high quality produce at the bulk rate without having to buy bulk. A week or two ago, they had apples for 89 cents a pound.
As the weather warms up, I'm looking forward to their local produce which is really cheap. The shop has a fun mix of other products. There's delicious bread from Albemarle Baking Company (another of Aaron and my absolute favorite places in town), cookies you can buy by the pound, fancy cheeses for Aaron, baked goods made by the Mennonites, foreign foods, olives and much, much more. It's the poor man's Whole Foods. It's well worth a visit and is conveniently next to Aqui Es Mexico (best mexican food in Charlottesville). If you go to their website you can see their specials. Here's the address:
221 Carlton Road
Charlottesville, VA 22902
Here's a map.

I loved that little market! I wish there was a place like that in Columbia. Thank goodness for my veggie co-op.

yeah, I find Whole Foods dreamy (i actually just got back from a trip there), but I have to set a strict budget for myself while I'm there... and I only go for things like organic baby yogurt and yummy hummus and seafood, etc. things i really want high quality versions of. it's nice to know there's a cheaper version!!! maybe steve and i can go stock up on produce this weekend.

I actually just got back from C'Ville Market and I love it every time. There is something nice about spending $17 and walking out with three grocery bags packed with delicious produce. Three cheers for C'Ville Market.

There's nothing like a great produce market! I wish we had one close by. Our local Wegmans has really awesome produce (much of it local and organic) and it's not that expensive. Less than Safeway or Giant, but more than a farmer's market. But I can go at 11:00 at night (about the only time I can shop child-free!)
