Mortal Peril?

The Cummings were kind enough to lend me their table saw. I'm planning on cutting a ton of masonite with it. I was going to start tonight but everyone and their dog seems to know a table saw horror story. Now my head is full of terrifying tales of severed digits and kicked back boards causing internal bleeding and death. Now I'm feeling a little nervous. So nervous that I even watched a couple table saw safety videos on Youtube. Unfortunately searching "table saw" on Youtube also brought up some pretty grisly results so I don't feel too much better.

It makes me nervous just thinking about it. Be careful!

You know, I've never again entered a woods shop nor used saws of any kind ever since I cut off the end of one of my fingers in woods shop class senior year of high school. That's right, the whole time you knew me I was a deformed individual.

My one consolation is that if I did loose a finger or two, I think it'd help me look tougher. I wouldn't mind that.

That is true, I have a good friend who has only nine fingers so when he just raises his hand he's doing "West Side" signs.

Perhaps you should have picked a less dangerous profession? I hear accounting is pretty safe. Unless office warfare starts to break out, then I'm sure people would start throwing their calculators and using their rulers as swords. It could be disasterous.

Brandon and I had a conversation the other day about losing limbs. That right hand is a keeper though, so try using the saw with only your left hand, that way it's less risky.
