Be Afraid Jack-o-Lanterns

Aaron Reuben and I picked up a little pumpkin over the weekend and last night we hacked it into a jack-o-lantern.

Every time we showed it to Reuben he bit its face. We thought at first he was giving it a kiss but he clamped down hard and left several puncture marks.

When we took it away he looked up at it, laughed, and snapped his jaw a few more times in its direction. What goes through that kid's mind?

What a funny boy--I guess he eats other things you show to him--you were working on it with a knife? Halloween is going to be fun!

that's funny. who can know what he was thinking. but maybe, given the jack-0-lantern's mouth, he thought the pumpkin was going to bite him. so he pre-emptively beats that old pumpkin to the punch. that's my guess.

I think he is trying to tell you he needs some pumpkin pie.
