Enriching

Today my ward had enrichment. There was a lot of good food and some cool crafts. I didn't do any of the crafts because I'm not a craft person. Instead I talked to a few ladies in an attempt to work on my social skills (which are mediocre at best) and stole some cookies to take home to Aaron.

On the ride back I started thinking about what I would enjoy making if I had the time and opportunity.

Here are a few things I came up with:

Pickling

What would you want to do?

By the way, I really like lifehacker. If you have a minute you should check it out.

A 4th grade teacher at my school last year showed the kids about atlatls and everything awesomely native american. He even makes his own arrowheads from self-chipped obsidian.

If you built that launcher, you will have the loyalty of every ten-year-old within a hundred-mile radius. You will have the power to ask them to be quiet when they walk in the hallways and they will do it.

We had a "Relief Society Activity" this weekend too... it was pretty good. One of the activities was a workshop on photography concepts. Pretty much the coolest thing I learned was to watch for tangents as you take pictures. Not being a math whiz, I was very glad when she told me that tangents aren't just conversational asides.

How about DIY solar panels made with hair?

See: www.allstocks.com/stockmessageboard/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=14;t=005528;p=1

Can you believe that?

I'm going to suggest this atlatl making for the next "menrichment" that the Elder's quorum decides to do...
