Little Big Foot

Reuben is growing in leaps and bounds. At 3 1/2 months he's reached the 17 pound mark and has moved into nine month old clothes. He grows out of his footed pajamas before his other clothes since his feet are about three months ahead of the rest of his body. As you can see in the picture, his long feet get curled into the tiny footies. I figure it's good training for his future ballet career.

Never Trust the Glasses Salesman

That's what Aaron learned the hard way. In an absent minded bout of good faith, Aaron believed the glasses salesman's assurances that glasses tinting technology has made some recent miraculous advances. When he picked up his new glasses, he found that what ever improvements may have occurred they still have the omnipresent tint known and loved by all 1970s and 80s Dungeon and Dragon players. Hopefully this unfortunate turn will soak up all Aaron's bad juju so the bar will go wonderfully today.

Reuben Again

Here's another picture of Reuben. He and Aaron are having a little chat.

Smiling Faces, Beautiful Places

We've been hanging out in SC a little longer than we expected. It's hard to leave the good weather, food, and family. And where else can you find a life sized pig for Reuben to ride? Aaron takes the VA bar on Tuesday and Wednesday so if anyone wants to offer a prayer, cross their fingers or pat a Buddha's belly in our favor we'd appreciate it.

Backgammon

Aaron and I had a good Valentine's this year. He gave me a ten pound bag of boiled peanuts and I got him a backgammon set. We've been playing backgammon every night since which has been a lot of fun. (Especially since we're at about 6-1 in my favor)
Aaron has kept it interesting by setting up the board slightly differently each night. Each time he assured me that last night was off but now it's right. Last night we finally looked it up on the internet so our game play should be pretty kosher from now on.
If you haven't tried backgammon before, I highly recommend it. It's a good mix of luck and strategy and it goes pretty quickly. I guess that's why it's survived for more than 5,000 years. That makes backgammon older than some people believe the earth to be. Which makes me happy.

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder?

Sorry about the lack of posts. I got really sick last week and am still getting over it. I'm in the process of digging out of everything I'm behind on. But there should be some good stuff coming up soon. We got a camera!! (Thanks Aunt Joan and Uncle Dean) so you can look forward to some really cute pictures of Reuben.

Happy Birthdays!

Reuben's grandmothers were born a day apart and celebrated their birthdays this weekend. Reuben was on hand to celebrate his Oma's birthday in SC and was up to sending his best wishes to Grammy this morning. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

100 Push Ups

My dad told me about this website that trains you to do a 100 consecutive push ups in about 6 weeks. I'm going to try it. If anybody else wants to, they can go here. The same place runs a site for 200 sit ups here.

You might be a monkey if...

I'm currently in SC hanging out with Abby while my parents fly out for my Grandpa Bob's 80th birthday bash. (Happy Birthday Grandpa Bob!!) I've been working a fair bit but when I've fed Reuben I've had the chance to enjoy my parents satellite tv.

I've mainly been watching UC TV which is the University of California's television station. They broadcast recordings of their conferences and seminars. It's really interesting stuff. I've learned about Technology for energy independence, The grid in the 21st century, human evolution, middle east diplomacy etc.

My favorite moment was when I turned the tv on and a guy was in the middle of his explanation on the research on differences between humans and chimps. He had a slide that said human, chimp differences. But the way he was presenting it made it seem like it was for self examination. Apparently you might be more of a chimp than a human if:

your wounds heal quickly
you have no chin
you experience easy child birth
you have relatively high muscular-skeletal strength
(there were a few more conditions that I can't remember now)

According to the same lecture, chimps and humans are the only organisms that have loving grandparent-grandchild relationships. I thought that was cool but I still don't like monkeys.

Our LIfe Right Now - Aaron's Jemaine and I'm Brett

This pretty much sums up what life is like right now. Except we don't own a synthesizer. :(
