Bishop Allen

So here's another new music find: Bishop Allen. I'm completely and totally in love with their song Monitor. It narrates the battle between the Union and Confederacy Ironclads the Monitor and Merrimac. Don't worry, it's not a sea shanty. It's dreamy in a Little Nemo way, so Beautiful and haunting. Aaron's response: "That's a great song. It's about time that the world produced some decent Civil War nerd rock." Nerd rock? What?

Click, Click, Click, Click is great too. It reflects my experience of visiting family: NEVER ENDING picture taking but it's still a good time. Interestingly enough it mention's Marie's wedding. Eery.

Anyway, I like their whole album The Broken String.

You can catch a listen here.

Hi Katy and Aaron! I just found Adam and Marie's blog, and yours by extension. I love all your pictures, it sounds like you guys are doing great. We have to get together sometime!

PS Another great nerd rock and Civil War song: Yankee Bayonet by The Decemberists.

Katy-

I love all the music you post on here...lots of good stuff, but no work for me. Where do you find all of these gems?

Hey Chelsea! It's nice to be found. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check it out.

Marlo, I find a lot of my music by word of mouth so I'm try to return the favor in hopes that the good music will keep spreading. Oh, and myspace is pretty nice to poke around in. Even though I hate admiting that. It makes me feel like I'm 14.

Hey! What's wrong with Sea Shanteys? I for one think the world could use more of them. I'm all for Nerd Rock, though.

I had a job for a summer where I spent a lot of time in a van with my boss. He listened to ONLY sea shanties and Rush Limbaugh. Consequently, through no real fault of their own, sea shanties have a very negative association for me. I'm all shantied out and believe I will remain so for about another fifty years.
