Miriam is doing a great job being a newborn. She sleeps and eats like a champ. When she is awake she's incredibly alert. It's fun to watch her study her world with her bright eyes. I swear she already smiles at me. Here are a few recent pics.
As for me, I've got one crazy bad case of poison ivy. I accidently kneeled against a leaf while playing at the park two weeks ago. I got a small reaction about the size of dollar coin. After I gave birth the reaction exploded. The skin puckered an angry pimply red and Huge blisters erupted across my shin, then up my thigh. Everything started seeping fluid. It's ugly, so ugly I'm not going to take a picture but if you google poison ivy, the nastiest image that pops up will be what my leg looks like. Really. I think I'm going to scar. And sadly it's made me unable to take anything but cold showers. Brrr. At least it's summer so cold showers aren't as miserable as they could be.
Other than that I'm feeling better and stronger every day. I can't wait to start taking daily walks with Reuben again. And ride my bike. And do yoga. And play basketball. And soccer. And volleyball. And Run. Woo-hoo! Only five weeks to go!

Wow. She is gorgeous and smiling and looks so old and chic already with those cute headbands. My poor bald babies.
Our favorite book for having new babies come is "We Have a Baby" - gorgeous pictures, extremely simple words with repetition that kids can follow and memorize, but there is plenty to talk about on each page about what babies need and how a sibling can be involved. Even though it's like for a 2-year-old my older girls still like it for bedtime stories because it's kind of soothing. Don't know if it will fly with Reuben but sorry, it's all I've got.
Reuben is doing great. He's already an awesome big brother. It seems to me that the first month is by far the hardest as far as transitioning goes. I have found that while nursing can be a great time to read a story to another child or play cars, dollhouse, etc. Still, I was reminded today by Spencer that children still need a little one-on-one time with mom and/or dad. They like to feel like the center of attention still.
No fair on the poison ivy. Hopefully, it will quickly subside.
Miriam - you are beautiful. So alert, so amazing. And that smile!
Good luck you guys! Your family is beautiful, and I hope the transition goes well. :)
What a gorgeous baby!! And good luck with your poison ivy!! That sounds horrible. That's all you need on top of recovering from childbirth. Yuck.
That picture of Aaron with the two kids is so adorable!!! He seems pretty amazing to me.
Wow. Immune system kicks back in after birth apparently. I have gotten the same nastiness with poison oak. And it seemed like it kept spreading and spreading, but finally it stopped. And luckily it didn't scar.
Kids are looking REALLY cute. I love that picture with Aaron and the kids. Sorry about the poison ivy, that really does stink. Hope it subsides soon. I don't know how into it Reuben would be, but with MY kids... erm... Nevermind... That's still a whiles off... I can't wait to see them!
I'm afraid I can't offer any advice about sibling transitions or poison ivy - but I can offer my excitement and love for your family - from beautiful observant Miriam, to cute, active Reuben, to caring, protective Aaron, to persevering and amazing you - we are so excited to be with you at Christmastime (we hope! Will you be in the area at any time then? You and Greg still need to meet each other, after all :)) P.S. We are liking the East Coast as we think about where we would like to live someday soon, maybe, job -willing :),
She is so, so pretty. I have no idea how to transition a toddler to siblinghood. Good luck!
The poison ivy sounds horrible.. good luck with that. You guys have such cute kids!! I hope you can recover quickly so you can keep up with sweet little Reubin. I also can't believe Miriam is smiling already, she is so cute! Congrats again!!
