Happy New Year! Aaron and I enjoyed our black eyed peas and greens for dinner tonight. This might be late notice, but if you don't know, eating black eyed peas and greens bring good luck for the new year, insuring cash for eating collards and coins for the peas. Since I'm not a huge fan of fatback and we didn't have any on hand, I made my black eyed pea salad instead. (I posted it in September.) It was yummy.

wow, that looks good!
That's so funny. I just read somewhere (can't remember where now) about black eyed peas on New Year's. Is it a Southern thing?
Yep, it's a Southern tradition. You should try it. I know how you love your green veggies!
I just learned about this tradition this year - isn't it sometimes called Hopping John? I'll have to try it next year and see if it works.
Happy New Year!
