If it seems like everyone around you is having a baby, it's because they are. The US is experiencing a baby "boomlet." In 2006 birth rates increased for women in their teens, 20s, 30s and early 40s. They rose for whites, blacks, Hispanics, American Indians and Alaska Natives. The number of total births jumped 3 percent to the grand total of an average 2.1 children per woman. That's the highest the birthrate has been since 1971. You can read an article about it here.
I felt like this was going on. I'm happy to know it isn't all in my head.

Are you trying to tell us something?
I love the graphic...what a fun one. Where did you find that? We could use it in the newborn nursery.
The other thing we have heard a lot about is the increase in teen pregnancies again...I definitely see that in Columbia!
Yes Mr. Mango, I am telling everyone I am not pregnant. That's one of the perks of growing up Mormon in SC, you become thick skinned and immune to peer pressure.
Mom,
I found the picture somewhere random. I'll make you one. Just let me know what you want it to have.
I knew it! Thanks for validating my observation.
Wow, I'm impressed you have such accurate observations. Whenever I think I notice a trend, it is almost always just in my head, and no one has any idea what I'm talking about. Way to be in touch!
Well, it certainly feels like every is having babies so it's nice to see some stats to support it.
I had wondered too...if our ward is any indication, this is going to become a full-fledged BOOM in no time.
