Voyage dans la lune - A trip to the moon

The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznik was recently awarded the 2008 Caldecott Medal. I just spent too long explaining how it totally deserved it but the computer decided to freak out and delete everything I wrote. SOO frustrating.
Anyway, the book is a fun and fast paced historical mystery. I couldn't believe how many elements of the story were factual. I was amazed to learn about automatons which are the androids of the 19th century. They were complex enough to draw pictures, play instruments, serve tables or dance. And there's an introduction to the beginnings of film which I LOVE. The Trip to the Moon plays a pivotal role in the story. Even if it didn't it's well worth watching.
